Primary Years 1-6
International Learning.
Strong Foundations.
At Prasan Gateway International School, our Primary programme combines the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), Oxford International Primary English, White Rose Maths, and White Rose Science to develop confident, curious and capable learners.

An International Curriculum Designed for Success
At Prasan Gateway International School (PGIS), we carefully combine internationally recognised programmes to provide every child with an engaging, balanced, and academically rigorous education.
Rather than relying on a single curriculum, we bring together the strengths of four leading educational programmes:
🌍 International Primary Curriculum (IPC) – Inspires inquiry, creativity, global awareness, and meaningful learning through exciting cross-curricular themes.
📖 Oxford International Primary English – Develops confident readers, writers, speakers, and communicators through a structured literacy programme.
🔢 White Rose Maths – Builds deep mathematical understanding through reasoning, fluency, mastery, and problem-solving.
🔬 White Rose Science – Encourages curiosity through practical investigations, scientific enquiry, observation, and evidence-based learning.
Together, these programmes help students become confident, independent learners who are well prepared for secondary education and the opportunities of an ever-changing world.

Chinese Language Immersion Programme
Developing Global Communicators
At Prasan Gateway International School (PGIS), we believe that learning another language opens doors to new cultures, perspectives, and opportunities. Our optional After-School Chinese Language Immersion Programme gives students the chance to develop practical Mandarin skills in a fun, engaging, and supportive environment.
Held twice a week from 3:10 pm to 4:40 pm, the programme encourages children to learn naturally through conversation, games, collaborative projects, creative activities, and cultural experiences.
Our curriculum combines the strengths of the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), elements of the Chinese National Curriculum, and the Youth Chinese Test (YCT) framework, providing a balanced approach that develops listening, speaking, reading, and writing while building confidence in real-life communication.
Students not only learn the language but also gain a deeper appreciation of Chinese culture, traditions, and global perspectives.

What Our Parents Say About PGIS
Primary Education at Prasan Gateway International School
Learning at PGIS Primary
At Prasan Gateway International School (PGIS), Primary education is designed to help children become confident, curious, and independent learners. Prasan Gateway International School provides Primary education for children aged 5 to 11 years in Chalong, Phuket, offering a welcoming environment where every child is encouraged to achieve their full potential.
Learning is active, purposeful, and carefully guided. Rather than simply memorising information, students ask questions, investigate ideas, solve problems, and apply their understanding through meaningful, real-world experiences. Lessons build strong foundations in literacy, mathematics, and science while developing creativity, critical thinking, confidence, and independence.
Prasan Gateway International School delivers the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) as the foundation for thematic, inquiry-based learning. The IPC encourages students to make meaningful connections across subjects while developing collaboration, communication, international mindedness, and a lifelong love of learning.
To ensure strong academic progress, Prasan Gateway International School uses Oxford International Primary English to develop reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Mathematics is taught using White Rose Maths, helping students build fluency, reasoning, and confidence, while White Rose Science develops scientific knowledge through practical investigation, observation, and enquiry.
Prasan Gateway International School provides English Language Learning (ELL) support for students who are developing their English proficiency. Teachers adapt lessons and provide targeted support to help every child access the curriculum with confidence and achieve their full potential.
Small class sizes allow teachers to know every child as an individual. Lessons are carefully adapted to provide the right balance of challenge and support, enabling students to make excellent progress both academically and personally.
Throughout their Primary years, students develop secure knowledge, resilience, independence, and the confidence to apply their learning beyond the classroom.
Our Educational Vision
At Prasan Gateway International School, we believe education is about far more than academic achievement.
Our goal is to develop knowledgeable, compassionate, and confident young people who are prepared for success in an ever-changing world. Assessment & Progress

Teachers use assessment to identify each child's strengths, celebrate progress, and provide appropriate challenge and support. Regular feedback helps students become reflective learners while ensuring they continue to make excellent academic progress.
Prasan Gateway International School prepares students for successful progression into the Oxford International Curriculum in Years 7 and 8, providing a seamless pathway into Lower Secondary education at PGIS Phuket.
Keeping Parents Informed
A strong partnership between home and school is essential for every child's success.
At the beginning of each IPC unit, teachers share an overview of the learning journey together with suggestions for supporting learning at home. Families also receive regular updates about classroom activities, learning objectives, and student progress throughout the year.
Parents are encouraged to communicate regularly with class teachers and school leaders, ensuring every child receives the support they need to thrive.

Reading is encouraged every day to develop confidence and a lifelong love of books.

Library & Reading
Reading plays a central role in life at PGIS.
All Primary students enjoy regular visits to the school library, where they borrow books suited to their reading level and interests. Teachers encourage children to read widely while developing research skills, information literacy, and independent learning habits that support success across the curriculum.
Developing International Mindedness
International mindedness is at the heart of education at Prasan Gateway International School.
Through the International Primary Curriculum, cultural celebrations, Host Country learning, and everyday classroom experiences, students develop an understanding of different cultures, perspectives, and traditions while recognising the values we all share.
By learning alongside classmates from diverse backgrounds, children develop empathy, respect, confidence, and the skills needed to thrive in an increasingly connected world.
